The most beautiful gift

I remember Christmas Eve to always be the most exciting day of the year. When I was little, my brother and I would wake up a few hours after midnight ready to celebrate Christmas Day. We would forget about our tired eyes and excitement would flood our hearts. Smiles were shared and giddiness was at its peak when we would sneak in to wake up mom and dad. We’d convince them that we couldn’t take it any longer and begged to start the day. Once given the go ahead we would scurry downstairs to see what Santa had brought us. With full enthusiasm we would rip open present after present, not able to believe our little eyes. Although we didn’t fully grasp it then, the gifts were symbols of love from all of those around us.

It’s said “everyday should be treated like a gift”, but how often do we keep that perspective? I often roll out of bed at the crack of dawn with little thought of anything other than my first cup of coffee. Once I’ve had that the day can begin and it typically doesn’t take longer than the first few sips to remember the ever-growing to-do list, the appointments and the busy week ahead. Or even the months and year ahead (cue Jan 1st).

A beautifully wrapped gift

But what if we approached each day like we view Christmas Eve, considering each new sunrise as the signal for another beautiful gift waiting to be torn into with joy and anticipation. Not knowing what we will be receiving, but being assured that who it’s from loves us beyond measure. It might not be what was on our want list, but it’s sure to be full of excitement and surprises. Who knows, tomorrow or the next day could even be packaged as the turning point in your life. That thing you’ve been praying and dreaming up might be waiting for you just around the corner. A gift so fulfilling that you wouldn’t believe it if you were told.

From The Brew to you,

We’re wishing you a very Merry Christmas
