Thirty + Thriving
I love this place. If this what contentment feels like, bring it.
Yes, it’s been quiet around here. I know, I know. But lean your pretty little ears this way as I explain.
Twenty sixteen has been a good one. It also ushered in a celebration for a certain thirty year old. I may be slightly freaking out that I now have a three in front of my double digits, but mostly in the best of ways. Although I’m only a few weeks in I feel like a better version of who I really am. I feel like I care less about the identity thing and more about the purpose-filled thing.
I also feel like I’ve made it to a place that some said I might never see. That dreaded thing called Cystic Fibrosis may have landed me in the hospital for a cumulative of about six weeks this year, but it didn’t stop me celebrating thirty beautiful years of life.
Thirty has me feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Gratitude towards life. Gratitude towards the people who built me, sowed into me, taught me and loved me. Gratitude for adventure and a life full of twists and turns. Gratitude for every breath and every new day.
Sure insecurity continues to rear it’s head every now and again – that’s life. But I feel stronger, more equipped, more grounded, more ready for the adventure ahead and more proud of the person I’m becoming. Everyday a work in progress, but everyday closer to a more purposeful life.
I feel more eager for the days ahead and less scared of the “what ifs”. Knowing that whatever this crazy beautiful life brings I’ll be able to handle it.
Here’s to the next chapter of my story. Still unwritten, but not unknown. I’m thankful for a beautiful creator who has already gone before. He knows the storms and He’s promised to be there to calm the waters. He hasn’t promised a life without craziness, but He has promised a life of purpose.
Ps. Update on my 30 before 30 list and more coming to The Brew soon!
A few pictures from a birthday weekend that dreams are made of. Seriously still pinching myself that I got to celebrate with some of my absolute favourites in the greatest city on earth.
